Research On BIM Technology Application In The Owner’s Project Management

The owner’s project management is the core of project management, directly related to the success or failure. With the scale of construction is increasingly big, the management difficulty increases. How to improve the level of the owner’s project management has been a very important research topic of the construction industry. The emerging and continuing to improve of the Building Information Modeling(BIM), provides a new management concepts、methods and techniques for the owner’s project management. As the biggest beneficiaries of BIM technology, the owners was trying to applied BIM technology to all aspects of project management, but is still in the primary exploration. By the studying of the BIM technology application and its effect in the owner’s project management, it produces a clear understanding of BIM technology’s specific application and its effect in project management to the owners, and has a positive meaning for the prescription application of BIM technology in the owners.Relying on relevant literature and practical examples of BIM technology, the paper firstly describes the definition of BIM and its engineering value, the conditions of the owners using BIM are studied based on the analysis of the technical principles of BIM. Secondly, BIM technology is introduced into the owner’s project management, and study the specific application of BIM technology in the owner’s project management. Thirdly, based on the previous text analysis, the paper summarizes the difference between BIM technology introduced into the owner’s project management and not introduced into. Fourthly, the paper sets up the project management maturity model of the owner, and the effect of the application of BIM technology in the owner’s project management is studied. At last, the application prospect of BIM technology in the owner and the obstacles of development are summarized, relevant proposals are put forward too. This study provides a train of thought, the framework for the specific application of BIM technology in the owner project management, analysis the difference, studies the application effect, summarizes the prospects and the obstacles.
