The automation of the ship power station is an important part in the automation of engine room. It can guarantee the continuity and reliability of ship power supply. Therefore, the reliability and economy of the ship power station is increasingly demanded in the modern ship. The importance of control, management and monitoring of the ship power station is highly highlighted. This dissertation designed a set of remote monitoring system for the ship power station which is based on PLC, computer and network communication technologies.The remote monitoring system includes three parts, which is the control system, the computer monitoring system and the safety protection system. The local control system is formed by PLC and PPU. By using the control advantages of PLC can achieve machine preparation, auto start and stop of the machine. PPU is mainly used to achieve parameter settings, synchronous closing and load balancing control functions. The PLC/PPU network can realize the functions of pre-lubrication for generator in stop state, automatic start and synchronous closing, automatic shutdown. The computer monitoring system designed according to Kingview monitor software can realize the functions of displaying mechanical parameters and generating units running status, failure monitoring and collecting the original state of motivation and generator or distribution system. In the event of operating failure, the computer can do some calculations and logic judgments. Safety protection system is mainly used for the protection of the remote monitoring system of ship power station, it can produce protective action to protect the stations control system or remote monitoring system when fault occurs.The Step-7 programming software is used to design the PLC monitoring program. The designed program can complete the functions of monitoring data acquisition and the equipment control. Kingview is used to design the control interface, realize the communication between PC and PLC according to corresponding variables in the internal PLC addresses. This dissertation gives a detailed introduction of the configuration process to build the control software in Kingview. The interface designed is friendly, the intuitive image can make the operator know the running state of the whole power system, so as to make the control actions corresponding to power station according to the specific conditions.Ship power station remote monitoring system has been carried out based on the laboratory debugging. The real-time monitoring function of the ship power station has achieved the desired effect.
