With the rapid development of national economic and civilization, transport issues of our country have drawn more and more attention. The most effective way to remit urban transport and to satisfy the need of daily travelling is public transport service. Nowdays traditional electronic bus-stop board cannot meet the need of people anymore. And the bus service is facing the challenge of management and dispatch. At present, electronic computerization developing fast, Internet of Things rising vigorously, smart bus-stop board has been an important part of urban public transport system. However, electronic bus-stop boards cannot be widely used in small-medium cities due to the slow development of ITS. In this paper, we bring forward the research and design of smart bus-stop board which is based on RFID technology under the premises of function realization and cost control. This issue can not only improve the levels of passenger service and bus industry informatization but also reduce the cost of management and operation.After looking up a large number of references, we had a pervasive understanding of the ITS development and the application of smart bus-stop board domestic and overseas. And by RFID and GPRS technology, we put forward the general design objectives of this system, which is divided into vehicle-mounted module, data collection & upload module, MCU control and LED display module. The active RFID adopts nrf24LE1 chip module, which sets the active RFID tags’ data and the transmitting power of the tags, meanwhile provides two interchangeable ways for the tags and introduces the ways of anti-collision; the RFID readers of the bus-stops collect the information of vehicles through principal and subordinate receiving module, sets the structure of gorge transmit frame, including data like bus-stops’ information and vehicles’information, link with GPRS module through the transmit frame. Sets the link between GPRS DTU and control center to realize the upload and sending of data. Programming makes way for communication among MCU STC12C5A60S2 and other modules, along with the LED screen to show the predicting outcomes sent by dispatching center.The core functions stated in this paper worked after several tests:the active RFID collected data real-timely, the GPRS transmission was stable, MCU and LED screen worked together to show the station information. That is conducive to ITS development of small-medium cities and public service quality.
