In recent years, the development of national economy drives the country urbanization process to speed up the pace. While the city size continues to expand, per capita amount of motor vehicle continue to increase. So it brings a severe test and a huge pressure to the city’s road and traffic. At the same time, due to the long use of life, some early construction of roads and bridges gradually produced a variety of diseases. Therefore, in order to promote the development of the city and protect the urban road network, the existing diseased roads need to be built and reconstructed. So that the internal road construction projects are increasing, it brings more traffic pressure. In order to guarantee the unobstruction of road network and ease the traffic pressure in other roads during the construction period, the good traffic organization is the crucial job. So far, aiming at the traffic organization during the construction of urban road network, China has not formed a sound theoretical system and scientific traffic organization methods. And the problem of traffic organization during construction period has not been solved reasonably and effectively. But the relevant departments have begun to pay attention to the problem. This paper mainly studies the traffic organization problem during the reconstruction period of the main bridge in the city, and carries on the main research on the traffic diversion.Firstly, a large amount of traffic organization research data is collected, and the traffic characteristics of the vehicles, traffic flow and people in the construction area are summarized and analyzed. A method to determine the range of traffic impact based on time- service level is presented, which is the basis for the later research.Secondly, the narration of traffic organization is carried out. This part focus on the introduction of the traffic diversion measures, and the principle and measures of traffic diversion are proposed. Then the traffic node is discussed and the determination method of node importance is proposed. The traffic volume, intersection capacity, proportion of the traffic and service level are selected as the important index to evaluate the node importance. Then the traffic flow model based on SUE is put forward and the network traffic flow is calculated.Finally, the paper describes the traffic simulation and proposes the TransCAD software. The software is applied to the distribution simulation of traffic flow before and after the construction, and the distribution data of the traffic flow after the construction is obtained. Then it takes the reconstruction of Fujiang bridge in Tongnan County of Chongqing as an example, the traffic organization theory and methods proposed in the previous chapter are applied to the traffic organization. The final plan is determined.
