In recent years some provinces began to use the flexible base in highway construction, in order to reduce the reflection crack in asphalt pavement with semi rigid base. Because of the high price of asphalt, the costs of pavement with flexible base are higher than pavement with semi-rigid base. The domestic research of rutting of asphalt pavement with flexible base is insufficient, and lacking of technical norms of science. Therefore, the structure combining with flexible layer and semi-rigid base become common structure. The structure not only has high strength, but also has good ability of anti deformation and cracking, and reduces the cost of pavement construction.The research for the design and construction of asphalt stabilized crushed stone layer is still in the initial stage, lacking of technical standards of science and design guide. Most design indexes and parameters according to the actual situation of multi project location, the applicability is restricted. The calculation and analysis of asphalt stabilized crushed stone layer maily use traditional layered theory, lacking of mechanical behavior analysis of large size mixture.The application of ATB-30 asphalt stabilized macadam in the lower layer was researched in this paper. The limitations of Marshall Design Method were analyzed to determine the design method and proportioning of ATB-30, then, to test the road performance. Two-dimensional micromechanical model of ATB-30 layer was generated using the discrete element method(PFC2D), tracing force in load position and the particle displacement. The mechanism interaction between particles and the mechanism of each layer of pavement structure were revealed from the microscopic point. ATB-30 asphalt stabilized macadam construction technology and construction quality control measures were put forward, to provide a reference basis for the application of ATB-30 in the construction of asphalt stabilized macadam.
