A Study On The Characteristics Of Ancestral Temples In JinZhai County Tang Jiahui Town

Ancestral temple, a typical building form in Chinese feudal society, is a great creation that Chinese have been created for over thousand years. Ancestral temple, as a kind of buildings that has been preserved the most in ancient China and conveys a number of valuable historical and cultural information to later generations, directly reflects on some fields, such as family system, blood relationship ethics,geomancy fengshui and building technology.Ancestral temple which derived from nature adoration especially ancestor adoration in traditional culture in ancient China, started in the Zhou Dynasty developed fast in the Song Dynasty and promoted the best in the Ming and the Qing Dynasty. AS a material carrier on traditional clan culture,ancestral temple not only has a large number,but also a wide distribution.With the long development in ancestral temple, it gradually shapes a spatial distribution that consists of the three main buildings named “the gate house”, “sacrifice hall” and “the resting hall” as the axle wire,and represent the typical feature of “etiquette”.This thesis mainly does research into ancestral temple in Tang Jiahui town, Jin Zhai county, An Hui province.Although Tang Jiahui town located in the hills and lacking in a convenient transportation,Tang Jiahui takes loyalty,filial piety, chastity and righteousness and family ancestral temple seriously.As a result Tang Jiahui town has the largest number of ancestral temples in the whole county.At the same time, Jin Zhai county regarded as the second largest “general county” in China,gives ancestral temple the important red culture which means a revolutionary culture.so it has a high value of research.I bases the thesis on the documents consulting and field study, then makes a simple summary on the origin and development of ancestral temple and finally could succeed in studying the ancestral temples in Tang Jiahui town,Jin Zhai county.Firstly, I know about the nature environment,regional culture,community economy and ancestral temple survival in Tang Jiahui town.Secondly,I analyse the ancestral temples characteristics on location,direction,spatial constitution,the plane form,building elevation and decoration. Lastly,I make an analysis on the historical and cultural value of the ancestral temple in Tang Jiahui town in the view of architecture.There are three reasons for writing this thesis.First,it serves as a new sample in studying the ancestral temples in Wan Xi region.Second,it can improve the social attention to the ancestral temple in Tang Jiahui town.Third,it gives a theoretical reference and inspiration for the repair and protection of the ancestral temple and local architectural design in Wan Xi area.
