Water is the basis of all life and the source of all things. However, with therapid development of social economy, there are more and more restrictionscoming from water resources for economic development.It is problems for usthat how to use and protect water resources reasonably as well as maintainingthe internal balance of water resources system. It is also a problem for all areaswhere are short of water to realize the water resources system’s sustainabledevelopment. Shanxi Province is located in the northwest of China. It is atypical inland province, with serious water pollution, which is lack of waterresources. The industrial structure of Shanxi is very unreasonable. All of abovewill bring adverse effects on the water resources sustainable development inShanxi Province. Therefore, the comprehensive evaluation on the system ofwater resources sustainability in Shanxi Province has very important practicalsignificance.The research content of this article is mainly composed of the followingseveral parts:1, Introduce the development process and the basic framework of DPSIR model. Then establish the DPSIR model about water resources evaluation. Usingtwo objective combination methods and looking for a scientific combination todetermine the weight. At last, it introduced the basic principle and thecalculation way of the comprehensive evaluation method.2, In order to set up the evaluation system of the sustainability of waterresources in Shanxi Province, we select22evaluation index combined with thesituation of Shanxi Province from driving force, pressure, status, influence andresponse five angle to analyze the factors affecting the sustainable utilization ofwater resources in Shanxi.3, Evaluate the sustainability of water resources in Shanxi Province basedon the DPSIR model. It determined the index weight by the combination ofobjective weighting method and calculated the index layer’s value and thetarget’s value according to the comprehensive evaluation method. The integratedevaluation results show that during the study period, water resources systemsustainability in Shanxi Province was in good condition, reflecting thesustainable development of the overall situation. At last, it puts forward fivemeasures for the sustainable development of water resources in Shanxi Provinceby the analysis of various factors affecting the result.
