The Chinese Government carried out a series of urbanization policy to develop the countryside. The major theme of urban construction is the integration of industrial and urban development. The tourism industry in China’s economic development strategy has been become very important. Tourism industry can promote the integration of urban development in order to promote urbanization, economic and social development in rural areas. Many cities and towns have to use their own resources and features to develop the tourism industry. Therefore, tourist towns developed rapidly in recent years.However, the conflicts between the development of tourist town and modern life exacerbated during the development of these town. The development of tourism industry may affect the original life of local residents. Moreover, the excessive development lacking the protection awareness in environment would result in the decline of tourist town. Therefore, protection and renewal of tourist town is very important.This essay proposed to make a reference of the Chinese and international tourist town’s protection and renewal practice, combined with heritage conservation and landscape protection to make a research of tourist town of conservation and renewal. The reference of the experience of protection and renewal of existing tourist towns can summarize the strategy for the balance with the relationship between features of tourism and modern life.Based on the background of the development of China’s tourism industry, proposed the problems of protection and renewal of tourist town and recommend the appropriate recommendations. Finally, using the example of planning and design of Shuanglang to summarize and reflect on this case and discuss the protection and renewal strategy.
