With the rapid development of economy and acceleration, urbanization in China also develops very fast, the increasing number of cities and towns, and the scale continues to expand, and the increasingly close economic ties between cities, all these lead to the increase of transportation demand. At present, highway is still the main mode of transportation in the central and western regions of China.How to adjust the relationship between highway traffic and Urban Development Association, and to find its regularities and rules is current research hotspot.The adaptability of highway transportation and urban spatial structure is the research object in this paper. Firstly, the paper introduces the meaning and measure method of adaptability scale of highway construction, and the paper analyses present situation of Qinghai Province highway traffic and the urban spatial structure and also researches the relationship between highway transportation and urban spatial structure, reveals the highway transportation and urban spatial structure in time and space of interaction,based on the the point axis asymptotic diffusion theory and the traffic location theory and central place theory.Secondly, the paper constructs the adaptability evaluation index system of highway traffic and regional urban spatial structure according to the principle of the suitability of the adaptation of scale and structure, adaptability of space layout, functional adaptation and adaptability of urban grade of four aspects of a total of seven indicators.Thirdly, using the method of network analysis and spatial analysis method of GIS and the software of Arcgis10.0, Google, Earth, SPSS, the paper analyzed the development status of highway and urban section in 2000,2007 and 2014 three time trend data.The highway traffic and urban spatial structurevariation tread in 2000-2014 in Qinghai province were brought on the carpet: the actual scale of highway traffic in Qinghai headsof the ideal scale;highway network accessibility distance value by the Huangyuan 态Gonghe county and the spatial pattern and its surrounding county periphery decreased basically unchanged; Economic gravity between towns are increased, the matching degree of highway network layout and traffic location line is more and more high,which is only limited in Xining and its surrounding areas; with traffic advantage,the urbanization of the road did not get to play in the social and economic development.Finally, according to the calculation results, the paper points out the existing problems in the development of Qinghai province highway traffic and urban spatial structure, as well as the problems in this paper...
