With market competition intensifying, the market is saturated. Enterprise gain profit from products to reduce. With the guidance of the competition principle.Companies seek a best interests between the ‘diversification’ and "cost".Market supply and demand gradually shift to the customer. Enterprise continuously collect customer feedback information, and constantly improve their own products to promote products to diversified development, but diversification lead to the cost increase. The cost strategy limit the customer choice and led to decline in market share. Product product platform was born between diversity and universality.It effectively coordinate the relationship of enterprise cost and customer demand.This paper first conducts the research to the product platform strategy, The product platform strategy is divided into two stages: The primary stage of the establishment phase for product platform. And puts forward the methods based on the similarity of product platform. The senior stage is to expand the product platform.This paper puts forward two kinds of extention methods.1.In the initial stage of product platform strategy presents a bottom-up product platform establishment method, the methods based on the similarity of product platform. Making full use of the similarity between the structural or functional similarity establish product platform in different products. The establishment of product platform between the harvester and silage machine using the method.2.In the advanced stage of product platform strategy presents a method of product platform extention. The method based on morphological transformation. The method to induce a large number of examples from nature and practical products.Improvement and summarizes 3 forms of product platform development based on the principle of transformation, and summed up the 15 operator, and put forward the application of these operators process. These operators can be used for the transformation of product design. This method is mainly used in vertical extention of product platform.3.In the advanced stage of product platform strategy presents a method of product platform extention.
