International Comparison Of Industrial Structure Adjustment In China

Since the implementation of the reform and opening-up policy in the year of 1978, China has seen a rapid increase in economic development for the last three decades and has completed economical achievement that is respected globally. China has become the second largest economy with the GDP in 2015 reaching 67.67 trillion Yuan. However, the economy growth is based on huge consumption of natural resources and deterioration of the environment, and the unsustainability of the rapid growth has urged the quality of economic growth to be improved. Impacted by the 2008 financial crisis, the need for strategic shift in the current rough-oriented economic developing strategy is an important and urgent task.The reasonable degree of the industrial structure, as a key part of the social economic development, is of important significance for economic development for any country, and whether the suitable industrial structure could be established has close relationship with the quality of economic development in the country. There is an old Chinese saying "foreign stones may serve to polish domestic jade". By analyzing the process of industrial structural adjustment experienced in China,US, UK, Germany and Japan, and comparing the process regarding transitional coefficient of industrial structure, the rationalization and optimization of industrial structure, and the development leading industries of the 5 countries, this thesis comes to the finding that currently in industrial structure development, there is a large gap exists between our country and the 4 countries, and our country is even less developed compared to the 4 countries in 1990s. In the last part of this thesis, several advices are proposed based on the current Chinese ’new normal’ background regarding how to transform government functions, improve the efficiency of agricultural production while firmly take the road of industrialization, promote the development of service industry, and accelerate the development of energy conservation and environmental protection industries.
