The international financial crisis of2008has strongly shown us the closerelation among the world large economic entities with the development ofeconomic globalization. This unusual crisis was a heavy blow to the worldeconomy and seriously affected the economic development of China. AlthoughChina has got recovered quickly, it’s critical to be clearly aware of the potentialrisks and possible disasters of economic crisis. It’s the common issue faced by allcountries that how to prevent financial crisis quickly and reduce the risks oneconomic entities. Too Big to Fail is the best seller of Andrew Ross Sorkin, who’sthe chief reporter and columnist of New York Times. The writer shows us anobjective and detailed description of the economic crisis of2008based on hisface-to-face interview to more than200men involved in the crisis directly. So thisbook owns a great value and deserves our study.Guiding by the theory of analyses of kernel sentences, this paper mainlystudies the translation of long difficult sentences and probes into the inner relationthrough the complex surface sentence structure. Taking the long sentences fromToo Big to Fail as example, this paper concludes the problems and resolutionsduring the translation process. It aims at summarizing the translation tactics andskills and improving the ability of translation.The paper mainly consists of four parts. Chapter one is the introduction,which talks about the background, purpose, meaning and methods of this study.Chapter two mainly concerns the preparation before translation, mainly includingthe information of the writer and the analysis of the text. And the third part is theresearch report about the translation of long sentences. This part analyzes theexamples from Too Big to Fail and makes a summary of translation tactics.Chapter four is the conclusion which makes a systemic summary on the translationin order to get some inspiration to the readers.
