It was the18thand19thcenturies that when the development of culture exchangebetween China and western world reached its peak. During these200years, the twodifferent cultures interacted and learned from each other, and then presented a specialfeature of Chinese-Western elements combination in patterns. Flower patterns are oneof the classical inspirations of textile design, which has wide popularity among people,and flower patterns were requisite decorative patterns during the18th-19thcenturies,offering inexhaustible inspirations for textile design. From the perspective of textilepatterns, it is related to the Qing Dynasty and Rococo decorative style and Victoria’stime in flower patterns.In this essay, I’m going to illustrate the two different cultures in flower shapes,colors and other perspectives from the aesthetic and architecture differences to find thereasons why they were different in morphology and thoughts.The traditional flower patterns deeply influence the modern textile design. I hopeto innovate the traditional flower patterns into the modern home-decorative textiledesign in the way of market research, the target population survey to show my ideas inthe term of wall hangings, keeping the shape characters, the auspicious wishes andmake use of the modern materials, technology and appreciation of the beauty to enhancethe quality of artistic life.
