A Report On An Interpreting Task For A Turkish Summer Camp

This interpreting task report mainly describes the whole process of aninterpreting task for a tour group of Turkish students in July2013. It includes thecomplete process of the interpreting task, the challenges and coping tactics in theprocess, and the findings in this interpreting task.In the first part the paper gives an overview of the interpreting task for a groupof9Turkish students who came to China on a summer camp. It introduces thebackground, the objectives, and the nature and features of the interpreting task. Thesecond part of the paper is a detailed description of the whole process of theinterpreting task. It covers the preparation of the interpretation, the interpretingprocess, as well as the evaluations from the Turkish students and the interpreter.Followed are the specific challenges and corresponding tactics in this interpretingtask. For example the constantly changing environment, the cultural differences, andthe pressure from the local guide in this interpreting task. In response, the paper alsoanalyzes how the interpreter coped with those challenges. The last part of the paperis conclusion. This chapter gives an overall reflection on the whole interpreting taskand some suggestions on how to provide better interpreting service in similarsituations in the future.
