The translated material entitled Managing organisational culture: insights fromthe hospitality industry was chosen from Human Resource Management Magazine(2002, No1, page33-53). The authors Emmanuel Ogbonna and Lloyd C Harris are twoprofessors of Cardiff Business School. The article includes six parts, that is, thedefinition of culture, the hotel industry, research, case studies insights, conclusions andfuture research directions. This text is about10,027English wordsThe translation report summarizes and analyzes the translation practice.Considering the text being an academic article of Hospitality Management, thetranslator chose Hans J. Vermeer’s Skopos teleology as the guiding theory. The Skopostheory includes skopos rule, coherence rule, and fidelity rule. Translation of words isexplained from the four aspects, including the conversion, pronoun restituting, additionand omition and translation of sentences is also explained from four aspects, involvingsequential translation, conversion of voices, conversion of sentences and translation ofsentences.The translation report consists of six parts: Introduction briefly introduces theauthor and description of translation tasks; translation process, general informationabout preparation before translating, the process of translating, and revision andedition after translating; the difficulties and problems encountered in translation;translation theory and translation method used; translation examples, experiences andinsights the author gained in translation, and so on.The translation task is not only an important part of translation practice inmaster’s studying phase, but also provides the author with a rare practicing opportunityfor future translation jobs. This practice also improves the author’s translationcompetence as a translator.
