A Report On The Translation Of The Localized Translation Of "Kaledo Knit V2R2Training Guide"

Under the international background of economic globalization, the exchangesand cooperation between various countries become much closer, and the demandof translation is increasingly strong. According to the Report on the Developmentof Chinese Languages Service Industry in2012, the growth of the language serviceindustry in China is estimated to be15%per year over the next few years, and theannual value of production will reach more than260billion RMB in2015. Hence,the demand on the localization is very urgent, while the main function of thelocalization is to process the product and software specific to the language andculture, eliminating the barrier to make the product conform to regional markets.The text of this translation project is the training guide of Kaledo Knit V2R2,totaling31,088words in nine days, accomplished by the Business IntelligenceTeam including the author. From the prospective of translation theory–SkoposRules, technical preparation, translation style guide and workflow, the reportsummarizes the preparations before translation, with the analysis of typicalexamples analyzed by four translation skills. Finally, through the aspects of theLQR report, consistency and translation software, the author summarizes thedeficiencies of this translation project.Through this report, it is known that the qualifications of the excellenttranslator include not only the language abilities, but also the knowledge intechnology, business, culture and market, while the translators’ responsibility,communication and teamwork are also of great importance. Furthermore, thereport is hoped to provide reference for the translation of training guides, anddeepen the understanding of ordinary translators on localization via this translationproject.
