Use Of Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)Technique In Translation Project Planning

By mapping out all work, activities and tasks needed to be done to achieve the project goal, project planning plays a very important part in the success of a project. This thesis intends to provide an effective tool to plan translation projects. The author finds that Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) technique is very useful in project planning process and can be adapted to translation projects. Using the technique, the author builds two WBS chart templates for translation projects and exemplifies them with actual translation projects. It is concluded that the planning of translation projects can be greatly simplified and its output can be of high quality by making small adjustments to the WBS templates based on the evaluation of a project’s real conditions.
