The Interpretive Theory of Translation is one of the most frequently citedtranslation theory in translation and interpretation study, in particular, in interpretation.Represented by Danica Seleskvotich and Lederer, based on the first-hand experienceand observances of interpreters and interpreting process, the Paris School, proposedthe theory originally by integrating subjects like cognitive psychology, linguistics andlogistics in a comprehensive and scientific manner. In light of the Interpretive Theoryof Translation, the author discusses problems concerning constructing informationframework through note-taking in C-E consecutive interpreting of keynote speeches.Based on the authors personal experience in keynote interpreting and her observancesof other interpreters, the authors proposes several pieces of suggestion for interpreterswhen taking notes in C-E consecutive interpreting of keynote speeches at the end ofthe thesis.The thesis is composed of six parts. As the beginning part, introduction dealswith the significance of the study, necessities of the study and layout of the thesis.Chapter One is literature review in which the author summarizes general ideas of theInterpretive Theory of Translation and the achievements and findings of otherprofessors and scholars made in note-taking and fields related to it. In Chapter Two,the author makes a general introduction to the Interpretive Theory of Translation,including the origin and development of the theory, triangle mode of interpretationand basic concepts embodied in the theory. Chapter Three is devoted to analyzingcharacteristics of keynote speeches with the reference of two typical keynote speechesdelivered by President Hu Jintao and Guo Shuqing, President of China SecuritiesRegulatory Commission, respectively. In this part, the author also summarizes basiccharacteristics of note-taking in consecutive interpreting. In Chapter Four, the authorproposes several suggestions for constructing information framework throughnote-taking in C-E consecutive interpreting of keynote speeches through citingexamples of note-taking done by the seasoned interpreter, Wu Zhongming published in his book Interpretation Study in light of the Interpretive Theory of Translation andbasic characteristics of keynote speeches and note-taking in consecutive interpreting.The last part is conclusion.
