English education has always been a hot topic in China. To improve thestandards of teaching and learning English in China, domestic press has introducedseries of books about teaching methodology of foreign language. The English versiontranslated in this report is selected from a book of the series, Teaching and Learningin the Language Classroom written by Tricia Hedge, which mainly analyzed issuesexisting in English teaching and learning.This report is about the translation of the book which contains four parts. PartOne is an overall introduction to the translation report including the book’sbackground and significance of the translation. In Part Two, the author describes theprocess of translation from three aspects—understanding of the original text, theexpression and revision of the translation, and application of Peter Newmark’s theoryas the guidance to the translating process based on some certain standards. Part Threeis the analysis of translation skills and problems via case study. Part Four is in anattempt to summarize author’s experience in the translation.
