In teaching Chinese as a foreign language, idiom teaching is always theemphasis and difficulty in vocabulary teaching. Idioms inherited from theancient times, in the process of formation, it combines many of the Chinesenation culture connotation. The animal name idioms, has wide sources. Suchas “fantasy” from the legends,“misrepresentation” from historical stories.“lord Ye professed to love dragons, actually be afraid of dragon” from fable,“Old people may still cherish high aspirations” from literature. Because ofdifferent nationalities in different geographic environment and culturalbackground, the role and significance of the animal are also different. Sothere will also be different in treating the same animal. The culture of eachnation, significance of animal therefore is difference. Students studying inanimal idioms can be affected by their own culture, so the different culturecan affect their understanding. The purpose of this paper is to throughcomparative analysis of Chinese and Western countries on the animal’sattitude and emotion, in order to let students better understand and studyChinese idioms, to learn China’s culture and better use language tocommunicate.This article divides into four parts. In the introduction of animal idiomsare defined and introduced the animal idioms because of its rich cultureconnotation, and so has its important in teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage. In the second part, comparing the Chinese and foreign culturalconnotation will help students understand the animal idioms. The third partis338sentences about animal idioms that from Jinan university languagecorpus and HSK dynamic composition corpus, and find out the commonerrors of the students, find out the reason. The fourth part is the strategies inteaching animal idioms, and these should be based on cultural teaching, In the context teaching, scene teaching and pay attention to culture teaching.Not only can make the students know where and when use the animal idioms,also can make the students flexible use idioms, so can make the languagemore vivid and image.
