Throughout the history of Chinese documentary, culture has always been asubject that Chinese documentary to pursuit and to explore. As a typical case of theculture documentary after the reform and opening up, the "silk road"(1979) recruiteda national and the well-known "road"-the "silk road",with the spirit of cooperation,with strong passion to explore perspective for the first time.Since1954, when the News Record Studio filmed “Dunhuang”,to2013that“the Restart Journey of the Silk Road”, the documentary relevant “silk road” have18units。The emergence of the documentary has experienced some period from the earlydays after the foundation of P.R.C, economic recovery, Reform and Opening up, andeconomic rapid development. After the first documentary had been created thatcomprehensively described the "silk road" in1979,in the node of national reform andopening up began,"the New Silk Road" and "the Restart Journey of the Silk Road”both have been in a period of the changes of social environment,the challengesbrought out of the development, adjustment, or more complication. So the exploringof "the Silk Road" in documentary, it is not just cultural issues, but has deeprelationship with history and ages. By combining Geography of Media, this study usesome professional concepts, just like time, space, and landscape, to interpretdocumentaries, further to analysis the characteristics of the documentary, exploringthe metaphor relationship of different ages. The focus on the Silk Road has alwaysbeen around how to explore “the Road”. According open and the inclusive spirit of"silk road", to probe expectation of the future for the country and the people.The18documentaries contained different perspective and conception, which in the age hasthe close relation with social environment and the national road direction at that time.How the path issues to affect the Silk Road culture, what kind of national discoursehidden in the Silk Road culture, and what the implications of the development for thesociety are, that are the key in this paper.
