The Study Of Sion-vietnamese Words On The People Newspaper Of Vietnam In Modorn Times

Sino-Vietnamese Words come from long-term close contact between Chineselanguage and Vietnamese language. Sino-Vietnamese words are an integral part ofVietnamese vocabulary system, and those words have been paid much attention byscholars in Vietnam as well as other countries. Therefore, the relevant researchesfrom different angles are productive.This paper attempted to stand from a new perspective and took The PeopleNewspaper of Vietnam as a case, using sampling method, classification statisticalmethod, comparison method, case study method and other research methods toconduct a comprehensive investigation and research on the Sino-Vietnamese wordsin the editorials of The People Newspaper of Vietnam over the past40years.Firstly, the collected language materials were categorized, summarized andstatistically analyzed. It was found that Sino-Vietnamese words were in highproportion in editorials. The majority of Sino-Vietnamese words are those withChinese origin which took the leading role. Whereas other words with Vietnameseorigin occupied with lower proportion. Secondly, the in-depth analysis wasconducted on the respective characteristics of Sino-Vietnamese words withChinese origin and that with Vietnamese origin. It was discovered that the quantityof Sino-Vietnamese words of Chinese origin showed an increasing tendency aswell as with flexible usage. The quantities of proper nouns with Sino-Vietnameseprouncation tended to be decreasing, but alphabetic words and Latinized wordsgradually increasing. The quantities of Sino-Vietnamese words with Vietnameseorigin gradually increased and the formations of word-building were diversified.Finally, from the view point of language regularities, language polies of Vietnam and social background factors, the cause of utilization variations and developmentof Sino-Vietnamese words was analyzed.By examining the Sino-Vietnamese words in The People Newspaper ofVietnam, this paper aims at discovering the real feature of Sino-Vietnamese wordsin modern Vietnamese written language, particuarly in editorials, attemptting topredict its development tendency in order to be of use in Vietnamese languageteaching, translation as well as research.
