Surrounding the translation of Safety and Health Manual, this report is devoted to finding out its problems and proposing countermeasures to them from the standpoint of translators. Following the principle of "revealing the fact-finding out problems-looking for solution and improvement", the body of this report is divided into three chapters, namely, translation process, problems concerning the translation, and countermeasures for the improvement of the translation.Safety and Health Manual was translated by four translators together. In collaborative translation, this translation process and the problems appeared in it are typical to some extent. Therefore, in this report, the author firstly reproduces the whole translation process by describing the works translators have done at each stage of the translation. This part includes:first, the analysis of source text, the assignment of translation task and the selection of assisted means in preparation period; second, the techniques and skills translators applied in the translation of terms and long sentences, as well as the information exchange between translators in the translating; finally, the proofreading of target texts and client’s feedback after the translation. Then, from the perspective of collaborative translation, the problems appeared in this translation practice are classified into two major types. The first type is related to text problems, which mainly cover the differences of terms and language style as well as the non-standard proofreading in target text. The other is about some communicative interaction problems, which include the neglect of new translator and the insufficient communication between translators. In collaborative translation, the above problems are particular but also common. By combining theoretical knowledge with experience, some countermeasures are proposed to improve these problems. As for problems related to the text, first, a systematic procedure of term translation will improve the unity of terms when several translators are involved in; second, an agreed selection of translation strategy, technique, sentence length and passive sentence will help to reduce the differences of language style in target text; finally, the attention to proofreading will also improve the quality of a translation. With regard to communicative aspect, the increasing degree of translator’s participation is a good way to guarantee that each step of the translation go on fluently. By the same time, a good communication mechanism between translators will enhance information exchange and updating in collaborative translation. In this report, the translation of Safety and Health Manual has been analyzed from several aspects, and some improvements have been made. However, there is still a long way to go for the study of collaborative translation. The author hopes that this report will bring other translators and scholars who work on collaborative translation some help and inspiration...
