This is a translation report on The American People and Their Education: ASocial History written by Richard J. Altenbaugh, PH.D.,University of Pittsburgh. Thebook comprehensively examines the education of social groups as it evolved withineach time period from the perspective of social history. In this translation project, thetranslator selects the former five sections from chapter6, which primarily focuses onnational educational developments in the period following the civil war, especiallythroughout the west and south. The last part concludes theenlightenments and lessons translator gained in the translation.
