Books reflect human thought, spread history culture. But now, many characteristics ofthe old version books gradually fade out the market and lost sight of the reader because of theyhave failed to feed the modern people, this caused a bad influence on the development of thepublishing industry and book design, also impediment to the transmission of traditional culture.Therefore, the author analyzes and research the old version books redesign in China.In this thesis, Divided into four parts, include six chapter. Part1makes up the first andsecond chapter, expatiates on the research background, situation at China and abroad, thedefinition of book design and the development process of book design book design. Part2makes up the third chapter, analyzes the phenomenon of book design, sums up the reason andproblem of book redesign. Part3makes up the fourth and fifth chapter, also this part is the keypoint part, this part proposed new ideas of book redesign from era, continuity and integrity ofthe three aspects of the legacy of books, while analysis the relevant outstanding cases, and the1983edition of "Nanjing folklore" re-design in order to support new ideas practice casespresented earlier. The sixth chapter is the fourth most part, a summary of the entire paper, paperpresented at the deficiencies that exist and the direction also need to continue research.Older version books redesign not only can improve the overall quality of our books, returnbooks to allow a meaningful legacy reader’s attention, but also bring good economic benefitsfor the publishers, conducive to China’s traditional culture heritage.This research has certain theoretical and Pragmatic value for the development of modernbook design in China.
