This is a report on a translation project. The source text is Chapter Four of Translation in Global News, a book cooperatively written by Esperansa Bielsa and Susan Bassnett. This chapter illustrates how the news translation is dealt with in major global news agencies. The source text is well worth translating in that the two authors provide detailed illustration of news translation and suggest some basic news translation principles that are very useful for people to get a basic idea of news translation in global news agencies.The report consists of four chapters. Chapter One is an introduction to the background, objectives and significance of the project as well as the structure of the report. Chapter Two is concerned with the research background, including the introduction to the theoretic background for this project and the source text background. Chapter Three highlights the difficulties in and methods for the translation. Major difficulties in this translation project are the technical terms in the field of news translation, long and complex sentences. Under the guidance of Skopos Theory translation strategy, the translator employs restructuring, interpretive translation and other techniques to tackle the difficulties respectively. Chapter Four concludes the translation project report by discussing the gains, the lessons learned and the unresolved problems.
