This is a translation project report of World Happiness Report: Chapter 2 World Happiness:Trend,Explanation and Distribution and Chapter 3 Mental Illness and Unhappiness by John F Helliwell, Richard Layard and Jeffrey D Sachs. The source text reflects the ranks of global happiness index in 2013, and analyzes the reasons for ranking, thinking that mental illness is the biggest cause of unhappiness but often is overlooked by authorities, the third chapter analyzes in detail the aspects of mental illness. By the translation of the original text, we can understand the living conditions of residents of the world currently, and it also has a guiding role in the development direction of China’s economy. While through analysis of the causes of unhappiness, we can pay more attention of mental illness, which improves China’s construction of the mental health system. The main content of this report is divided into five parts. The first part is translation project description. The second part is the introduction to the original text, including a brief introduction to the authors and analysis to the original text. The third part is the translation requirements, including the expected function of the translation text and reception time and readers of the translation text. The fourth part is translation difficulties and translation skills. Translation skills used in the translation process are: literal translation, free translation, division and combination. The fifth part is a summary of experiences and lessons in the translation process.
