This translation practice report is about the translation of the text of Fuxin Mongolian Autonomous County’s Tourist Brochure(Shortened as Tourist Brochure). It includes the introduction, research methods and summary about procedures and completion of the task. There are enormous cultural factors and special words in tourist translation. Cultural losses will occur if special words are only translated literally. Because of the fact that there are a lot of Mongolian special words and customs in this text, the problem of how to translate those special words accurately becomes the key point of this thesis. The author analyzes the translation practice cases from the perspective of Skopos Theory. With the help of Cultural Compensation Strategy, the author hopes to find some ways of narrowing the cultural differences, thus promoting the exchanging between China and Western countries. This report consists of four major parts, task description, procedure description, case study and the summary and conclusion. The task description mainly introduces the background of the task, the reason for the choice of text as well as the characteristics of the text; the procedure description introduces the translator, the preparation work before translation, translation work duration and quality control method and process; the case study mainly analyzes the relevant theory of the text, and studies about how to combine the theory with practice in the translation. The specific translation strategy and methods are the Cultural Compensation Strategy, Literal Translation, Free translation, Amplification, Transliteration and In-text-note and Transference; the summary and conclusion mainly talks about the problems that the translator met in the translation practice and some feelings during the translation practice.
