China’s Reform and Opening policy has achieved an amazing rapid development over the past 30 years, China’s overall power has been strengthened and its international status as well as its global influence have been improved. A large number of oversea Chinese learners are pouring into the classes which are held in China or other foreign countries, and the students will be confronted with numerous problems during their study, the learning of Chinese idioms and its teaching are quite weak,and haven’t received much attention. But the Chinese idioms are not avoidable and they are the most obstacle for oversea learners, at the same time they are the critical measurements of learners language’s level.The basic research on Teaching Chinese as a second language is fairly weak and not extensive as well. grammar teaching has been a focus by the experts and teachers for a long time, and the words teaching has been ignored, many foreign students will face the great challenge of vocabulary learning when they grasp the basic grammar rules. When it comes to the Chinese learning, the word is absolutely everything and it determines their language capability, still, vocabulary learning needs an extraordinary accumulation, Chinese idioms are a special family and have contributed priceless treasures to its world of word, On one hand, oversea Chinese learners are fascinated with Chinese idioms and on the other hand, they are afraid of it and trying to avoid the Chinese idioms.This paper summarizes the weaknesses and strengths of current Chinese idiom-teaching and divides it into six sections. The first part is to introduce the the reasons of choosing this subject. The second part explains the necessities of idioms teaching, the third part is to discuss the errors of acquisition, and the current position of Chinese idiom-teaching, the fourth analyzes Chinese idioms in the teaching materials,the fifth part provides some new ways of teaching methods and some latest ideas, then summarizes the whole paper in the sixth part.
