The task described in this report involves the simultaneous interpreting for three out of the five speeches during the celebration conference on the 50 th anniversary of the School of Foreign Studies, Guangxi University for Nationalities on October 18, 2014. As a report on Chinese-English simultaneous interpreting practice, this essay reviews the interpreting task, aimed at ensuring the accuracy, conciseness as well as fluency of interpreting in the future and bringing implications to MTI teaching.The chapter of Task Description mainly reviews the preparatory work, which is divided into pre-interpretation preparation and last-day preparation in chronological order. In addition, it describes the process of interpreting and post-interpreting packaging. The chapter of Case Analyses first introduces the theoretical bases including the Schema Theory and the Effort Model. Then some typical examples are selected to analyze the application of the strategy of structural anticipation, anticipation of contents and linguistic anticipation based on the Schema Theory and to discuss the strategy of syntactic simplification and contextual simplification supported by the Effort Model. Finally the chapter of Summary and Reflections summarizes the interpreting task and offers suggestions for MTI teaching.The report demonstrates, to MTI teachers and students, the necessity of preparation work with the learning of interpreting theories in particular and discusses the significance and employment of coping strategies. Besides, combining the above theories and strategies might bring about inspirations for the research into simultaneous interpreting from a cognitive perspective.
