| This is a translation project report on Thinking in New Boxes: A New Paradigm for Business Creativity(Chapters One &Two),which was written by the senior think-tank consultant of Boston Consulting Group(BCG) Luc de Brabandere and senior expert Alan Iny. The book was released by Random House on September 10, 2013. The translator decided to choose this book as the source text because it can not only help readers learn how to release creativity, but also can provide lots of specific exercises to stimulate readers’ creativity rapidly in an innovative and practical manner. The five-step process mentioned in this book can be suitable to all the fields and departments in an organization—in that it can help people rediscover the full power of thinking in all dimensions.The linguistic features of the source text are carefully analyzed in this report. In terms of contents, the translator eventually chooses Peter Newmark’s Text Category Translation Theory as the theoretical basis. Corresponding translation methods and techniques are adopted in the report to tackle different translation difficulties, and some examples are cited to support the theory. This report has four chapters in total. The first chapter is introduction. The project background, objective, and significance are included in this chapter. The second chapter gives a detailed description of the translation theory and introduction of the original text. Chapter three is a paramount part of this report, which analyzes the translation difficulties and the methods adopted in practical translation. The last chapter is a summary of the whole translation project, including the experience and lessons acquired and the problems need to be solved. |
