This is a translation report of Levers for Change: Philanthropy in selected South East Asia countries written by Prapti Upadhyay Anand and edited by Crystal Hayling, of which chapter 2 is the source text. Against the background of the onset of democracy and strong economy after the Asian financial crisis,the philanthropy in Indonesia developed rapidly.The chosen chapter states the development of philanthropy in Indonesian involving a lot of terms. In addition, foreign language besides English such as Indonesian and Dutch make it more difficult to translate. Although the language is colloquial, the long sentences for the translator whose mother tongue is Chinese are difficult to understand. Supported by Reiss’ s text typology, this report discusses solutions to terms,borrowed words and long sentence in informative text translation and other translation methods like conversion, amplification and omission used in such text.
