| This is a translation project report of Chapter 3 of Human Geography: People, Place and Culture(Tenth Edition) written by Erin H. Fouberg, Alexander B. Murphy and H. J. de Blij. This chapter not only examines various types of migration and the reason why migrants choose to leave a particular place and go to other places, but also discusses the barrier erected by the government to slow human migration. Besides, it explains the reason why the government policy changes and how the policy affects the migration flow. This report is divided into four chapters. Chapter One is the introduction which includes this translation project’s summary, background, significance and structure. Chapter Two is the analysis of the original text and theoretical foundation which are comprised of the introduction to the original text and the theoretical foundation of the report, and the former made up of the profiles and the original text’s content and features. Chapter Three states translation difficulties and methods, and the difficulties consist of passive voice, long and difficult sentences and specialized vocabulary. So there is a need to transfer the source language to the target language because some translation methods must be used in order to make sentences coherent. Methods consist of splitting, amplification, and adoption of four-character idioms. Chapter Four is the conclusion, a summary of this report by the translator, including some rewarding experiences obtained in the translation process, lessons learned as well as issues unsolved. |
