Directional Complements is major problem for foreigners to learn Chinese, and it is one of the common mistakes in using directional compl饿 ment. Chinese Directional Complements in use of trend verb indicate the operation of the state supplement; complement the action on trends after the verb or adjective.Due to the difference in Mongolian and Chinese, learners make a lot of mistakes, I mainly considered in Mongolian student learning advanced level Chinese in Mongolia Institute of Economics and Finance and my research work centered on their usage of Directional Complements in spoken or written Chinese, investigating trend of Mongolia students using complement and analyzing factors of impacting on making mistakes,which proposed to solve some of the problems of Mongolian students mistakes and to give some teaching method recommendations.Through questionnaires and observation of learners’ essay, I have found that following two aspects of the most common and typical errors of advanced level students in using directional complements. Those are:First, using directional complement with the object, the main object when the object of the premises, whether or not the object used in thecorrect position, and the second, student is not able to fully understand the Chinese directional complement. My research work put forward five categories such as error types proposed for various usage of directional complements, correct position of directional complement, miss directional complement or verb, add wrong directional complement. The usage of Chinese directional complement is very complex, and expresses of a variety of significance, therefore it contains unique Chinese grammar,and students do not understand the differences between the original meaning and extended meaning that’s why they often preferred to avoid using directional complement.Under the circumstances of Mongolian students using directional complement, analyze the causes of using wrong complement. The main reasons are: negative effect of mother tongue, complexity of directional complement and drawback of teaching method. Directional complement is one of the main grammatical items that reflect the characteristics of Chinese grammar, many languages including Mongolian are not the same as its form of expression, thus Mongolia students making mistakes are mostly influenced by mother tongue.In view of these factors, I have made some teaching method suggestions based on my collected materials during internship; I hope my research work will help to students to understand the structure of directional complement, and provide reference in usage of original meaning and extended meaning for Chinese learners. I believe that when Mongolian students to learn directional complement teachers should have a clear understanding of theme syntax, should be master to identify the teaching difficulties of directional complement and focus on error of direction toward the position of complement and object, the difference between simple and complex complements usage in some high-intensity exercise. Students are preferred to avoid using complements rather thanusing wrong complements then it increases the probability of making mistakes, so the teacher must create study environment for learners to use directional complement and strengthen the students’ knowledge of usage,meaning, and the structure of directional complements. Currently teaching methods and teaching materials of directional complements which teachers used are limited within the range of textbooks just similar as before.
