Recently, according to teachers whose majority is “teaching Chinese as a foreignlanguage” and the ones learning Chinese as a second language, in complements field,directional complements highly used in Chinese is the one of difficult complementsubjects and the key point of learning complements. Turkish language doesn’t havethe directional complement syntax same as the Chinese language, that’s whyTurkish teachers of Chinese and the students studying Chinese language under theinfluence of their mother language think that directional complements in Chinese hasflexible structure and the complex semantic, so can be used in different ways. Thematerial and the practical teaching methods selection of teaching Chinese (chosen byTurkish educators) can contain so many unfavorable factors because of insufficientsupplement and these reasons make Turkish students think that the practicaldirectional complement is very difficult to learn when they study it.In modern Chinese, the directional complements are generally divided into twocategories: simple directional complement and compound directional complement. Inmy opinion most of the compound directional complements derived from simpledirectional complement. There is a meaning connection between each compounddirectional complement and simple directional complements. Therefore, I researchedthe simple directional complements subject on this thesis. I analyzed the differencesbetween Turkish and Chinese grammar by conducting questionnaires on the majorityof Turkish students who study Chinese language and had a conclusion about how tomaster this Chinese grammar subject.The researches conduct by the scholars who have the authority in secondlanguage acquisition, interlanguage and error analysis theories fields had an effectivehelp for my thesis. This thesis focus on three subjects: first is error analysis, secondone is the reasons causing error and the last one is some teaching advices aboutstudying Chinese simple directional complement.
