Along with the “Chinese fever” raise in popularity, Chinese has become one of the world’s most important languages; this means that more people start learning Chinese. It’s difficult to learn Chinese as second language, thus foreign learners need to spend a lot of time to overcome the difficulties, especially Indonesian learners. In contemporary Chinese, quantifier is a unique word class, and also is one of the difficulties in teaching Chinese as foreign language, especially noun quantifiers.Both Chinese and Indonesian have plenty of noun quantifiers. After all they are two different languages, there have to be many differences between them. There are a lot of noun quantifiers in contemporary Chinese, their grammatical characteristics and usage are rather complex; therefore, there are many errors in the process of learning. In this thesis, we did a survey on Indonesian Xinya College students, analyzed the errors made by them, explored the causes, and made some suggestions on teaching methods.There are five chapters in this thesis. The first chapter provides an overview of relevant literature. The second chapter introduces Chinese and Indonesian noun quantifiers. The third chapter introduces Indonesian Xinya College students’ noun quantifiers learning condition. The fourth chapter analyzes the errors in learning noun quantifiers. The fifth chapter provides some suggestion on teaching methods, we hope it might help some in learning noun quantifiers.
