The sub-group of verbs with more grammatical function rather than actual lexical meanings is named light verbs when converting into Transformational-generative grammar, and they are relatively harder to be acquired because of their broad meanings. The subjects in this article are chosen from the basic vocabulary with high-frequency usage such as "nong", "gao", "gan", "zuo" and "da", etc. And the foreign students’ acquisition of these five Chinise light verbs is studied based on the possessions of resources of interlanguage and resources of native Chinese language materials under the guidelines of theories of light verb, second language acquisition and error analysis, by adopting statistical analysis method.The thesis is composed of six chapters.Chapter One is the introduction to introduce the significance of this subject and the theories this article based, also it covers the reasons of choosing light verbs, procedures of defining light verbs, study scope methods as well as the data sources and properties.Chapter Two is the review of the past and current researches regarding the subjects per se and acquisition.Chapter Three is the classifications of the usage and related formats of Chinese light verbs. Classifications are mainly based on the descriptions of the semantic features and syntactical structures of the five light verbs described as "nong", "gao", "gan", "zuo" and "da" using example analysis method, and this brings up the summary of the syntactical structure of the three major kinds often small kinds.Chapter Four, the emphasis of this article, is the study of foreign students’ acquisition of Chinese light verbs. Following the classified statistics of the sources of interlanguage and Chinese, and followed by corresponding descriptions, it analyses the facts of learners’ generalized and inadequate output known as biased errors which is classified into four different types described as semantic, syntax-semantic, syntax and pragmatic-semantic based on the resources of interlanguage.Chapter Five is about the analysis of the biased errors and corresponding teaching recommendations. It firstly summaries the typical presence of the light verbs in Chapter four, then analyzes it from four different aspects named as interlingual transfer, intralingual transfer, learning environment and learning as well as communicative strategies, and provides with teaching recommendations at the end.Chapter Six is the conclusion of the whole essay and presentation of the inadequacies of this study.
