As the fast development of teaching Chinese as a foreign language and Confucius institute, the status of cultural teaching and the function of cultural spreading was pushed high by the media even though the importance of cultural teaching was identified several years ago, some even suggest that spreading Chinese culture is the ultimate goal, but how does the cultural teaching of Confucius institute overseas really affect the cultural acquisition of students and what is the influencing factors, this paper will take the institute of Unesa for example to discuss the effect of cultural teaching on acquisition of the students.The main body of the paper contains five parts.The first part is the introduction, including the purpose, significance, research status, theoretical basis, data sources and research methods.The second part is to analyze the cultural acquisition and demands of the students by the diagram based on the research of the students, and to find out the gap between acquisition and demands.The third part is to analyze the cultural items appeared in the textbook used by Confucius Institute of unesa, and try to find some reason of the gap between acquisition and demands from the textbook.The fourth part is to study the cultural introduction methods in Mandarin class of 5 teachers and the interview of them. Then analyze the Chinese cultural teaching of the teacher’s effect on the students.The fifth part is to conclude the point of this paper based on analysis of the textbook, classes, the literacy of the teacher and the cultural demands of the different kinds of students. And then give the reasonable suggestion which will possibly improve the situation of cultural teaching.
