Technology has triggered tremendous changes in translation industry. Computer-aided translation (CAT) tools are being extensively used to facilitate translation. Translators with CAT tool knowledge are highly sought after. As CAT is becoming ever more relevant, it is attracting greater attention. More scholars are studying it from various perspectives, and more MTI schools are offering CAT courses. This thesisis based on a survey of CAT teaching in MTI schools. The thesis is organized in the following way. First, literature review. Based on themes, the author classified CAT literature into five categories:general development, technology and tools, teaching, application and the miscellaneous. The author then numerated essays of each theme annually, and found that essays on teaching registered a substantial increase. The result of literature review testified to the relevance of this survey. Next the author sent questionnaires to investigate how MTI schools are doing with CAT teaching. Results showthat the importance of CAT has been recognized to some degree; but MTI-CAT teaching still faces many difficulties, including the lack of qualified teachers, the short of funding and insufficient understanding of the translation industry. Building on that, the author gave suggestions on CAT teaching in MTI schools.
