There are concrete procedures in this practice encompassing: preparing,consecutive interpreting, recording, proofreading, summarizing and analyzing. Thispractice provides the interpreter with a valuable opportunity to embrace acomprehensive improvement in articulating, comprehending, analyzing andsummarizing, and also enable the interpreter to get access to first-hand experience.Since the planning stage, the interpreter solves problems such as how to cope withunfamiliar geographic concepts and cultural features, how to speak in the manner of aguide interpreter and how to change sentence patterns and expressions in a flexibleway. Under the frame of the ethnography of communication, three types of problemshave been summarized by means of case study and detailed solutions to the problemsare provided, including most passive sentence patterns in sources language should beinterpreted by adding subjects or linking words; some plain statements should beinterpreted with a vivid description; according to the need of audiences, mostnarratives should be interpreted in a customary manner in Chinese.The author hopes that the paper can be used as a reference to would-beinterpreters.
