C-E Interpretation Project Report For "Press Conference For The First Session Of The Twelfth National People’s Congress"

The contents of Press conference of NPC include not only the political area, but also economic and cultural aspects. This press conference includes the speech with prepared documents and the lively question-and-answer. Therefore, its language has the feature of both formal and humor. It includes the thanks to attendants, introduction to the procedure and explanation of hot issues. Therefore, it is comprehensive, authoritative and updated.The difficulties of this project mainly include:1. the correct interpretation of professional words. There are many professional words---words in the area of political, economic or military which are difficult for interpretor to prepare in advance.2. the efficient interpretation of large amount of information within limited time. The information amount is so great that it is difficult for interpretor to convey all of them within limited time.3. the smooth interpretation of long sentences. There are many long sentences with complicated structures and rich contents which are difficult to deal with.Based on Professor Huang, Zhonglian’s Variation theory, I propose the following methods.1. According to mean of "add", I propose the method of "understand the meaning of word and explanation after literal interpretation". Interpreting the litral meaning of the words first and adding information and explanation to make sure the recipient could accept the true information;2. according to means of "omit","reduce" and "combine", I propose the method of "grasp the key point and seek for the simple expression". By omitting unnecessary information, reducing unimportant information and combining similar information, the great amount of information could be conveyed to recipient efficiently;3. according to means of "edit" and "state", I propose the method of "use of conjunction and interpretation after comprehension". To interpret after our own understand and add some conjuction, the contents will be more logical and be better understood.I hope my report could give you some inspiration.
