A Report On Simulated Interpretation Of The Press Conference Hosted By Hainan Provincial People's Government

This is a report on simulated consecutive interpretation of the press conference hosted by Hainan provincial people's government at Boao Forum for Asia in April 2014.The content of the speech is mainly about the economic and social development of Hainan and the international tourism island construction.This interpreting report is analyzed according to the Functionalism theory.This theory proposes that in the process of interpreting and translating,the strategies to be taken should be based on the understanding of the target readers or audiences.It is unnecessary and inappropriate to translate or interpret the original language word by word.Instead,the interpreter or the translator should pay much attention to information processing and try to deliver the core meaning of the original text.The report is divided into four parts.The first part is an introduction including the features of the press conference interpreting,the background and research significance of this project.The second part mainly explains the steps of completing the project.The third part is a discussion of the theoretical basis and interpreting strategies applied in the project with relevant examples and analysis.The fourth part is the conclusion.In this part,the author reflects over the problems and relevant solutions from doing this project and some limitations in this report.
