Objective of the research: investigating the present situations of loneliness andsocial support and locus of control and exploring the relationships among them.Method of the research:720college students in two universities in Shandong andJiangsu Province were investigated with the UCLA Loneliness Scale and SocialSupport Rating Scale and Internal-External Locus of Control Scale and PerceivedSocial Support Scale.598questionnaires were recollected and among them589wereeffective.Conclusions of the research: The current university students generally have a senseof loneliness and generally have a higher degree of loneliness. The loneliness of malecollege students was significantly higher than female college students; the loneliness ofrural college students was significantly higher than urban college students; theloneliness of college students not in love was significantly higher than college studentsin love; the loneliness of college students in grade3was significantly higher thancollege students in grade1and grade4. The utilization of support, assessment ofsupport, family support, friends support, others support and perceived support offemale college students was significantly better than male college students. Theobjective support of rural college students was significantly better than urban collegestudents. The only-child college students received more objective support and lesssubjective support than non-only-child college students. The utilization of support ofclass cards was significantly better than not class cards. The objective support,subjective support, assessment of support of college students in love was significantlybetter than college students not in love. The students in grade1and grade4have thehighest social support state, the students in grade2has the lowest social support state.The locus of control has no differences among sex, areas, majors, whether or notone-child family and whether or not in love; but it has differences in grades. Studentsin grade4prefer to have significantly internal control than students in grade2andgrade3. Different sources of social support have different influence on loneliness ofcollege students. Subjective support, utilization of support, assessment of socialsupport, friends support, others support and perceived social support have a larger influence on loneliness than objective support and family support. In current collegestudents, who have a higher of social support, have a lower loneliness experience; themore inclined to outside control students have a higher of loneliness experience; themore inclined to internal control students have a higher of social support. Socialsupport was the mediator variable between the locus of control on loneliness.
