This thesis is aimed to compare the translation strategy of culture-loaded terms in English and Russian versions of The Republic of Wine from the perspective of Venuti’s Foreignization and Domestication Theory. Based on the five types of cultural factors divided by Nida, there are five categories of culture-loaded terms:ecological, religious, social, material and linguistic. When translating culture-loaded terms, sometimes translators chose the same strategy, while sometimes they adopted different strategies.Through the bilingual comparison, a conclusion is reached that the English version is prone to domestication, while the Russian one is foreignization. Domestication and foreignization have their own strengths, and translators should adopt flexible strategies under different conditions. The thesis include5parts.
