Regarding of the process of teaching Chinese as a second language, there areonly a few differences about the instructional content no matter when the Chineselessons are held under the target language or non-target language circumstances.However, it has been found out that when the lessons are held or in target languageenvironment, varies of problems come out. These problems need to be paid attentionto and for those teachers who are dealing with the Chinese lessons need to adjust theirstrategies and apply the right strategy to solve each of the problems which will behelpful to provide advantages for teaching Chinese in non-target languageenvironment.The instructional design plays a significant role in all teaching activities. It willhelp to shape the whole teaching activity and enrich the teaching process. Areasonable and effective instructional design will make the lessons alive and lead theteaching result to a satisfied status. The reason why I have chosen You Have toExercise more as the research context is that the content of the text will be helpful andpractical for those who are the beginners of Chinese study. What’s more, this lessonalso conveys a tradition Chinese culture. So the student will get some basic languageknowledge and improve their communication skills.During the whole process of teaching this lesson, some of the teaching methodshave been tried and applied. These teaching methods include circumstances teachingmethod, lecture method, discussion method and case teaching method. For teachingaids, some related pictures、objects and videos have been used to make the classattractive.The structure of this paper is for parts:The first part is introduction, which shows the reason and significance ofselecting this topic and also introduce the status of instructional design of teachingChinese.The second part shows basic knowledge about instructional design and thedesign for teaching Chinese. The third part is mainly about the instructional design of the lesson---You Haveto Exercise More. It shows some related elements when making an instructionaldesign and describes the instructional design of this lesson in details.The final part makes a conclusion about this paper.
