With the continous development of global economy, more and more Chinese enterprises have established subsidiaries abroad while more and more foreign companies have entered the Chinese market. Thus, IHRM (International Human Resource Management) is crucial for these multinational companies. Given that the multinational firms in western countries have started much earlier than that in China, it is worth learning from their advanced scientific IHRM concepts. Therefore, it has become more and more important and urgent to translate IHRM English texts into Chinese. This thesis mainly consists of two parts. The first part is the translation practice of an IHRM English text of15,000English words. The source text, International Human Resource Management, written by professor Michael Dickmann, who is a famous scholar of HRM field in the UK, is selected from an English textbook named Contemporary Human Resource Management (4th Edition). The translation practice aims at helping readers learn more about foreign HRM concepts, and simultaneously it can provide references to the translation of some parallel texts. The second part is the reflection and report on translation practice, mainly constituted by four chapters. The background, theoretic guidance and significance of the translation project are discussed in chapter one. The content of the source text is simply introduced and language features are explored in chapter two. The chapter three is the most important part in this report, presenting difficulties and methods in the translation process and analyzing the relevant translation strategies. Based on the Nida’s functional equivalence, the translator mainly adopts free translation with division, amplification, omission and other translation methods in the translation. Finally, chapter four makes a conclusion on the whole report, stating problems to be solved as well as enlightenment and summarizing acquired experience and lessons. The translator has known more about IHRM and accumulated the related translation experience on it through this practice. The translation version of International Human Resource Management could help the related students and workers better master the characteristics of IHRM.
