The development of translation has been boosted by globalization, and has beenprofoundly affected by the information and communication technology, which alsoopens up more possibilities for translators. With the current trend of industrialization,translation ought to be integrated with Computer Assisted Translation (CAT) tools toimprove its quality and efficiency, and effective project management can maximizetheir functions.This report is based on the author’s translation practice of Lonely Planet (LP)’sJamaica, a travel guide book. During the practice, the author played the role both as atranslator and a project manager. First the report gives a brief introduction to LP andthe translation project, setting forth several important concepts in management,demonstrating the workflow of the translation project in a figure, then giving a shortaccount of the importance and responsibilities of a project manager. The core of thereport describes every measure implemented to manage quality according to theworkflow, and at the same time, emphasizes the complexity and significance ofproject management and its quality management, in the hope of providing experiencesand references for future translation projects.
