This is a report on the translation of the first Chapter “The risk of laissez faire language policies” of English-Only Europe? Challenging Language Policy.English-Only Europe? Challenging Language Policy is regarded as a great research writing in language teaching, language policy and language rights. The present translation report is based on the given text, which briefly introduces the process of the translation task.The report consists of five parts. The first part is an introduction of the background information and the purpose of the translation project. The second part gives an overall introduction to the translation task, including task preparation,translation process and proofreading work. The third part presents the dynamic equivalence theory. The forth part analyzes the difficulties in translation. The last part is a summary of the translation practice.The report analyzes the difficulties in lexical level, sentence level and cultural level with the guidance of dynamic equivalence theory to achieve lexical equivalence,sentence equivalence and cultural equivalence; discusses the communicative translation strategy used in the translation of informative text and summarizes the problems to be paid attention during translation process. It is also hoped that this report could provide some beneficial references for the research and practice of English-Chinese translation of informative text.
