Impact Of Cultural Difference On Interpreting Exercises And Its Effective Delivery

With an increasing attention on cultural soft power by the world, culture has more influences and higher requirements on translation. In order to conduct successful face-to-face exchanges, interpretation has great significance for cultural communication. Because there are differences in cultural backgrounds, it is an important task to reduce the interference of cultural differences and reach the effective delivery of cultural implications. Based on the author’s four practices, taking cultural exchanges as examples, this report will discuss the impact of culture on interpretation from language directly related cultural problems and language indirectly related cultural problems, and it is then followed by an analysis of how to better convey cultural implications in interpretation with "Xiada model", "cooperative principle" by Grice and linguistic adaptation theory by Versurelun. Hopefully it can provide effective methods to improve the quality of interpretation and realize the effective delivery of cultural implications.The body of the report is divided into five chapters:Chapter One will have a brief introduction to the interpretation practices; Chapter Two will introduce the content and features of these interpretation practices; Chapter Three will analyze the impact of culture on interpretation with specific examples in several aspects which cover cultural deposition, cognitive system and thinking mode; Chapter Four will explore possible solutions with relevant theories; the Chapter Five is practice revelation, it will discuss the significance and short-comings of this report and combined with the author’s experience, discuss the quality of interpreters as well as matters needing attention.Through practices, it reaches the conclusion that, in the face of cultural problems, interpreters should not only cultivate cross-cultural awareness, increase the storage of cultural knowledge and strengthen the use of interpreting strategies in daily life, but also should choose suitable interpretation methods based on specific object, content and environment to transfer cultural significance.
