Based on Halliday’s systemic functional grammar and discourse analysis, Julian House developed her TQA model in the book A Model for Translation Quality Assessment (1977) and Translation Quality Assessment:A Model Revised (1997). She argues in her theory that the essence of translation lies in keeping the equivalence of language unit meaning while transferring from one language to another language. The meanings here include semantic meaning, pragmatic meaning and textual meaning. This model with the characters of being systemic, scientific and operational is acknowledged as "the first systemic and practical translation assessment model in the field of international translation critic".At present, there are very few empirical researches on her TQA in the field of the domestic translation field. Therefore, the realistic meaning can be completely found in empirical researches on TQA for the textbook introducing from foreign counties. During the course of translating the sixth chapter of the book Recreation, Event, and Tourism Businesses from English into Chinese, the author carefully analyzes the register (field, tenor and mode), the textual type and the textual function of the source text with the direction of House’s TQA model, endeavoring to keep the equivalence between the target text (TT) and the source text (ST) in the three aspects of register, textual type and textual function. After completing the translation, the author conducts the contrastive analysis between the TT and the ST with the index from House’s TQA model in above three aspects. Through the analysis, it can be concluded that the Chinese version of the chapter is covert translation with a few overt and covert inappropriateness which has little influence on the main textural function. As a whole, the translated version corresponds to the source text and it is a qualified translation from the perspective of House’s TQA model.During the application of House’s TQA model, the author also finds that House’s model can’t meet the demand for full objection, accuracy and scientificity, which makes it necessary to find one more objective and quantitative transfer unit as basic translation quality assessment index to perfect and develop the theory. The author hopes that this research can enrich the empirical research of House’s TQA model and the translation in managerial text to some extent.
